John Sarzier, MD, FAANS, FACS, FICS is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in comprehensive care for spine disorders. His team evaluates patients with neck, mid and low back pain and gives an honest opinion for treatment options. Dr. Sarzier believes in exhausting conservative treatments and performing surgery as a last resort for pain relief and functional improvement. He is trained and experienced in approved evidence-based medical procedures for the spine and specializes in revision surgery for patients with chronic pain.

Dr. Sarzier’s team approach to care includes a well-trained staff who offer patients a comprehensive and personalized care experience. They strive for the patient to feel comfortable and understood. Kerry Shuffelbottom, PA-C, works side-by-side with him as his physician assistant. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants for 10 years.

Dr. Sarzier and his team ensure each individual patient undergoes a thorough evaluation. When surgery is offered, he takes special care to understand the patient’s goals and expectations while determining which procedure will provide the best outcome.

Common Procedures

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF)
Most commonly, Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery is performed to treat a symptomatic cervical herniated disc or cervical degenerative disc disease. It is also frequently performed to remove bone spurs (osteophytes) that are caused by arthritis and to alleviate symptoms associated with cervical spinal stenosis.

Cervical and Lumbar Laminectomy, Laminotomy, Foraminotomy and Discectomy Foraminotomy
If nonsurgical measures do not offer adequate relief for neck and back pain, these decompressive surgical interventions may offer relief of pain and symptoms. They relieve pressure on the spinal cord and spinal nerves to alleviate neck, back, arm or leg pain.

Patient Stories

Becky Jones

Dr. Sarzier is a great guy, a great surgeon, has the best attitude and bedside manner. He did everything he could to keep me from having surgery until it became absolutely necessary. I fish and I deer hunt. I couldn’t sit in a boat for long periods of time and I couldn’t climb a deer stand because of my back pain. I would recommend Dr. Sarzier 10 times over. He helped me get my life back and doing the things I love.

Great staff! Very nice, cordial and helpful. Didn’t have to wait long to be seen by Dr. Aaron, which was also a very pleasant experience. I’m just beginning the diagnosis and treatment options for my condition, but I have full confidence in Dr. Aaron based on my initial visit!
